A sustainability policy is increasingly asked for by customers rather than regulators, which changes what a good one looks like: it will be read by somebody deciding whether to buy from you, and they will ask for evidence of the specific claims in it. That makes vagueness expensive in a way it is not in other policies. This builder sizes the document against what you can actually evidence: put in the commitments you want to make and how many of them you already measure, and it separates the ones that would survive the first question from the ones that would not. Change every figure: the defaults are a worked example, not yours.

Why split commitments into measured and unmeasured?
Because the unmeasured ones are the liability. A customer asking for evidence of a commitment you cannot count turns a marketing document into an awkward email, and a shorter policy of kept promises reads better than a longer one of intentions.
What does the scope figure change?
Whether the policy implies you assess suppliers. A reader assumes the widest scope you did not rule out, so saying own operations only is a stronger position than implying purchasing and then being asked how you check.
Is this the same as an environmental policy?
Overlapping. An environmental policy is usually about impact; a sustainability policy generally covers environmental, social and governance commitments together. State which you mean in the scope.
